STRAWSHOP

THE BIRDS

BY CONOR MCPHERSON

DIRECTED BY GREG CARTER

In the play by Conor McPherson, three survivors of a environmental apocalypse seek refuge in an abandoned lake house. Throughout the course of the play they are attacked by an endless swarm of birds, represented by sound enveloping the 3/4 Arena audience. Projected onto the rafters and walls, video of flying birds aided as scene transitions to convey the passage of time as well as the ever-present weight of the birds' menace.
